Anton Fjällman - Real-time VFX
Real-time VFX made for my examination project at Visual Magic
My examination project I made at Visual Magic where I created some real-time VFX in Unreal Engine and implemented them in a game template. I wanted to create both environmental and gameplay effects and decided to make fire, smoke, rain, water puddles, meteor shower spell and a dash ability. I also made a short opening cinematic using purchased assets for the environment and characters.
The meteor shower spell is broken up in to 4 different particle systems; the charging of the staff, the anticipation, the projectiles and the impact.
For the dash effect I decided to make the character turn in to a crow that leaves a trail of smoke and feathers.
I used EmberGen to simulate the fire and smoke and rendered it out as flipbooks
Water puddles with accumulation parameter that can be animated to grow the puddles over time. I also used physics materials to be able to spawn splashes under the characters' feet when running in the puddles.
