Maya Dumond - Rigging

by mayaDumond on 31 May 2023 for Rookie Awards 2023

Hi, I'm maya, a junior rigger recently graduated from ArtFX. I'm here to present some projects I had the chance to work on during my studies. I hope you enjoy!

Modular Rigging

All of this work could not be possible without the help of written scripts. I had fun creating my own toolbox filled with a variety of modular setups and general tools to help speed up my workflow. All using Python and PyQt.
With my main student project, "My dog ate the moon", being animated in Maya and rendered in Unreal Engine, I also had to come up with a solution to export alembics and FBXs easily, and build rigs that would be compatible between both softwares.

Facial Setups

From fully joint based to fully blendshaped, the face is the greatest of tools to express emotions. Here is a small review of the type of facial setup I did for "My dog ate the moon", mixing both joints and blendshapes, for easy posing and refining.

In Conclusion

It's those tools that helped me deliver all varieties of rigs.
From a small ant for "Maronii", to the main characters of "My dog ate the Moon",  not forgetting "La Mouche" and "Pir'heart", every project is unique, by their aesthetic and rigging style.

Thanks for taking the time to read!
