Amy Guo - Concept Art

'REQUIEM' is a VFX short film I worked on during my second year at the University of Hertfordshire.

The film features a realistic CG tree creature and tells the story of an elderly woman who berates her grandson for striking a deal with the dangerous creature. She then recites a poem to help him break the contract. This gothic fantasy film centres around a yew tree that transforms into a terrifying creature under a tunnel. 

I was fortunate to be part of a team with hardworking individuals including Caroline Coppenhall, Benjamin Cheeseman, Deborah Ihonor and Moyra Donnelly. Within the project, I was responsible for concept art, art direction, and creature animation.

I made a comic in 2022 that explores themes of motherhood and loss. 

"In a distant tribe, a grief-stricken woman mourns the loss of her child and misses her experience of seeing her child grow. One day, a mysterious object crashes into the forest, revealing an extraterrestrial baby. The infant presents the woman with an opportunity to fulfill her dream of motherhood, but when a dangerous entity threatens her village, she must decide between protecting her people and caring for the child."
