How Emotions Can Be Portrayed Through Groom
The purpose of this project was to investigate whether emotions can be portrayed on a character using groom as the main driver. By dissecting the theories around humans emotional connection to line, shape colour, I created grooms in Houdini on identical models that depict three contrasting emotions.
The purpose of this project was to investigate whether emotions can be visually portrayed on a character just through the means of groom. Character designers use colour and shape theories as guidelines when trying to depict emotion or personality in their designs. I have dissected the evidence that drives these theories, which focuses on the emotional connection humans have to line, shape and colour. Through this research I created refined and precise data to drive my designs. Each groom has been created in Houdini and built on identical models that have no initial emotions, so that there are no external factors that could affect the final result.
