Hi, I'm Serena. I graduated from Falmouth University in September 2022 and this is some of the work I produced for that. I hope you like it!

Round of applause for our sponsors

I graduated from the Falmouth University MA Game Art course in September 2022. This entry is mainly the work I produced during my course.

Frontier Hunter

For my graduation project I wanted to create characters and creatures for a fantasy western game, which I called ‘Frontier Hunter’, with the base idea of: Supernatural cryptid creatures roaming the American Frontier and superpowered bounty hunters of different playstyles fight to catch them.

Here are the the character and creature ideation phases as well as the final presentation sheets.

The first character I undertook the concept of was ‘Thunder’, a native American warrior with lighting powers. I was thinking about the characters play style, which was more melee focussed and hand to hand combat based, influencing his body type and weapon size and shape.

Next I created concepts for ‘Gunner’, more of a typical cowboy type, with a long ranged shooter play style.

I based the Ozark Howler on a combination of different animals. I took influence from grizzly bear anatomy and bull dog anatomy hoping to combine them in some way.

Character Line Up

Splash Art

Finally I moved onto the splash art for this project. I set out to create one piece of splash art each for the characters and one that included the creature for a hypothetical loading screen for the game.

Hero Asset - Theron the Mercenary

Next is another project from my Masters. We were tasked with creating a 'Hero Asset' and I decided to focus on character design. I designed a character based aesthetically of Ancient Greek 'hoplite' combined with a futuristic and dystopian world narrative.

Death Hawk

Next is a selection of work from a six week group project. We were team Pillars of Creation(below left) and we created a game called 'Death Hawk'(below right). I worked with other artists, game designers and programmers to complete this project in a group of five. The game is an immersive VR flight and fight simulator, in which the player has to destroy and loot enemy ships with a space-pirate narrative.

I produced UI design, graphic design and concept art for this project.

Above are some of the UI assets created to go in game. Below are the character designs and ship designs.

Team members: Josh Coppinger, Megan Evetts, Alessio Acampora and Matt Bailey

Desert Juice Truck

I designed a desert juice truck, based in a post apocalyptic world to practice my vehicle design skills. I completed ideation through thumbnails, blocked out the vehicle in Blender and produced the final render.

Thank you for taking the time to view my work and thank you to all who supported me throughout my Masters course!
