Round of applause for our sponsors

Welcome !

Here's my entry for the Rookie Award contest.
You will see a selection of artwork I made during my year at Artside School where I learned how to do design characters, vfx, creatures, environments, etc..

I'm so happy about all I learned, and even if I'm more leaning toward character design and creatures, I want to specialize in worldbuilding in the long run !
Enjoy !

CREATURE DESIGN

Let's start with a bit of creature !
During a workshop with Guillaume Normand we had to do reptiles and amphibians inspired creatures. I went with a pretty pitiful sad toad 🐸

TRIBAL CHARACTER & PROPS

For one of our milestones, I created this character whom story is taking place in the Jungle.
It was pretty challenging to do something tribal as I wasn't used to the visual language, but I learned a lot with this character !
The props were also very interesting to design as I had to find ways to make them corresponding to the level of technology of my character's world (exemple : the medicine pack or the pot)

CONTEMPORARY CHARACTER

During a class with Leandre Teko, we had to design a character that would fit in the Valorant Universe.
(For the render I stayed focused on the face)

VFX DESIGN

We had an incredible worshop with Jeremy Vitry who taught us how to do VFX and I had a real love at first sight experience with them ❤
We did a variety of elements from fireballs, electric mana to magic projectiles, Plague Bomb, transformation portal, etc.. ✨

DARKSBURG FAN-ART ENVIRONMENT

During another Jeremy Vitry's class we had to make a building in the artistic direction of Darksburg for the "Faubourg" biome.
I decided to do a Grain Silo - Here it is with different light mood and the steps of the process.

KIYOKO - THE WIND MASTER

During a workshop with Felix Donadio we had to create a splash art illustration of one of our character : I choosed Kiyoko, whom I had done the concept and the VFX prior (as you'll see below)
It was really fun to create a project in the continuity of something already done, and it made me develop a taste for illustration !

Kiyoko Design
I originally created this character during a workshop with Jeremy Vitry - The idea was to make a species with special characteristic, and then to develop one of them into the hero of a story.

Kiyoko's Power - VFX
Later during the year, we had to do VFX for one of our character and, as I loved the idea of  designing wind power, I choosed her. It was really really fun !

ARSTATION CHALLENGE : MEDIEVAL BACK AND FORTH

I decided a few months ago to do the Arstation challenge in the character design category !
While it has been a blast, I couldn't finish it, but I offered to the 3D modeler that wanted to do my design to continue some for them after the end of the Concept art category

For the Contest, we had to do 2 sides : One mainly medieval with modern elements and one mainly modern with medieval elements
I decided to do fighters of various background for both side

EXOTIC CREATURE DESIGN

During a workshop with the incredible Jeanne Plounevez, we had to do an exotic fantasy jungle creature !

THE SPHINX - CREATURE DESIGN

During another workshop with Jeanne Plounevez, we had to make a creature of our choice and I decided to try redesigning the famous mythological Sphinx of Œdipe's myth.

70'S CARTOON ROCK BAND SINGER

During a group project , we had to design the member's of a Rock band in the style of Zedig, and we decided to go for the 70's - The props were especially fun to design !

BONUS : ADDITIONAL SKETCHES

During this year at Artside, we had a lot of work to do and sadly, not all my sketches could be turned into a final for lack of time, but I still want to show some of them as I find them quite interesting !

THANK YOU !

I learned so much during the 14 month of my formation ! It was so much fun !
Thanks to all the teachers that helps us and gaves us amazing tips and feedbacks ❤
