Character and Enviroment Design
Currently pursuing a Games Art Masters at Falmouth University. Primarily from an Illustration background, I'm new to game art. Aiming to grasp 2D and 3D character art and modeling pipelines for a gaming career and produce top-quality work.
Zetesh Thul
Drawing inspiration from my passion for CRPGs, I aimed to develop a character who could seamlessly fit into the roster of a party or inhabit the world of games like Pillars of Eternity, Baldur's Gate, or the Pathfinder series.
The character I envisioned is a Monk from a future timeline, equipped with a powerful gauntlet—a cherished relic from his temple. His journey thrusts him back in time, driven by the need to rectify a grave injustice that befell his sacred sanctuary.
Designing this character proved to be a challenge as I sought to strike a delicate balance between the mechanics of the Monk class, the immersive fantasy setting, and the portrayal of his origins in a future time.
I drew artistic influences from traditional Monk aesthetics and Ancient Egyptian design.
The Process
I really enjoyed the silhouette process and, at the time, felt that this body type and pose suited the intended mood I was aiming for. However, upon reflection, I wish I had taken the opportunity to further experiment with various poses and body types.
Enviroment Design
Based on this characeter I wanted to design and create a 3D enviroment that I could invisage may character living and exploring in. I also used this project to explore different lighting situations in 2D and 3D.
