Hello! I'm Daria, and here is a small collection of what I have been working on through 2022/2023:

Faun

Faun was my first "after uni" personal project that I worked on. I wanted to create something in the fantasy theme, but at the same time, be able to explore a little bit more human characteristics, and I thought that a character of a half-human, a half-goat mythological creature from Greek and Roman mythology fits perfectly to that idea.

As with all my previous projects, I started by creating the reference board that was a base for the character concept sheet:

The high-poly model was created in ZBrush. At first, I sculpted him in A-Pose and then changed the limb placement to put him in a more relaxed and natural position for the final composition.

After I was happy with the high-poly sculpt, I took it further to Maya to do the retopology process and create the low-poly version and UV maps.

For the baking process and to create textures for the model, I used Substance Painter.

To create the renders and character turntable, I used Marmoset Toolbag. The final character composition was created in Photoshop.

Underwater

The idea for this project was born with the Adobe Substance 3D - Robot Challenge, for which I created the first of the Little Robot Diver. I liked the idea so much that I also created a friend for him and a small set of assets.

Friend of Little Robot Diver:

The Robot Challenge was my first project where I did not use ZBrush to create a model; instead, it was made entirely inside Maya. To follow along with the theme I decided to do the same and use only Maya while creating the second robot.

The project was supposed to be simple and fast, so after I created the model in Maya, I transferred it to Substance 3D Painter, where I was able to create the textures and the final renders.

Assets:

My idea was to make a few assets that would go together with the Underwater theme and could be found inside a sunken ship. After all, both robots are small divers whose job is to reach depths that ordinary human divers can't reach on their own.

That is why I thought about objects that are immediately associated with water, like a compass, a diver's helmet, or an old lantern that the ship's passengers might have used after dusk. For the assets, I did not try to do concepts sheets or sketches but rather go straight to modelling them, mainly due to a podcast from FlippedNormals, during which they said a phrase that was very memorable to me: if you want to be a 3D Artist, do 3D, do not focus on concepts, sketches, instead focus on sculpting and modelling. Therefore, for this project, I immediately moved on to creating the assets and using the photos I had collected earlier as a reference.

Unlike with the robots, for the assets, I decided to use ZBrush to create more precise details and surfaces by hand.

The final step was to transfer the assets to Substance 3D Painter for the baking, to create textures and the final renders.

Thank you for taking the time to view my work!
