Terra is a Gameplay Cinematic made in Unreal Engine 5 over 4 months during the second year at the University of Hertfordshire.

TERRA

You play as Terra, an earth elemental who is seeking to unravel ancient mysteries and fight back an evil being which is forcing its way through to our world.

Character Art

Terra is the main protagonist of the game. She is a loyal apprentice to her mentor who tasked her with the mission of uncovering the mysteries of an ancient civilisation.

Creature Art

Boss Creature

When designing the boss, I explored the origin of his role in the story. He is a corrupted, disfigured cult leader. I tried to create a hybrid humanoid figure with evident creature parts but still behaved like a human.

Dreg Creature

This creature intended to be a the medium sized enemy in our game which has a ram on the back of it which it uses to attack the player. It is blind, which means it relies on sound to know where the player is.

Environment Art

The environment was split into three main parts. arctic tundra, cultist church and ancient cave. Each part went through many different iterations from blockout to final.

FX

My task was to focus on effects design using the UE5 Niagara particle system which is split into two parts. The particle system itself as well as the materials both of which I learned a lot about.

Concept Art

This artwork showcases the concept of the main character in our game. Inspired by the Inuit culture, our game is set in a fantasy world. Terra's design incorporates prominent Inuit characteristics while also conveying her ability to wield magical powers.
