It's never too late for a change

Who said that dreams have an expiration date? Or that you can't take a professional turn after 30? That is the challenge I have set myself, to become an animator and change my professional career.

The first steps

First, the poses, to learn how to handle the characters, and most importantly: the 12 principles of animation. Knowing each one of them and learning to apply them was the beginning of the journey. Then came the time to give movement to basic shapes. And little by little elements were added, until I managed to animate complex characters.

The complete process

Then we began to carry out complete projects starting from scratch. First the references, the funniest part when you have to record yourself and become an actor first and then transform into everything your character requires. From there we move on to Blocking, Refine and the final Polish.

Record, record and re-record, until you are satisfied with your reference. Sometimes there is no choice but to look for examples online, or go out to get ideas. This is how I completed my Progression Shot Reel:

It's been an amazing journey. Starting from bouncing a ball to handling a character's facial controllers, adapting their emotions to what the scene requires. Not long ago I could hardly imagine how exciting it would be, and now I just want to keep going until I can dedicate myself exclusively to animation.
