Jiang Shi from Dead Da, Student Short Film
Character and enviroment models that I created for an upcoming student short film.
Character Model
The Jiang Shi (we call it Zombie) is the main antagonist in this short film. The target artstyle for this film was stylized proportions with realistic texture.
I sculpted the Zombie's head, eyes, body and hands, and handpainted the textures for them in Zbrush. The clothes were modeled in Marvelous Designer and textured in Substance Painter. If the cloth seems flat, it's because it is simulated and moving in the final film render.
Here is the Zombie's head from concept art by Kenneth Choo Peng Cherng, to the first pass, and to it's final re-design.
Topology, Rigging, and Cloth Simulation
Here is a high-quality demostration of the Zombie's moving clothes, using an animation from Mixamo. I was able to bring cloth sim animations from Marvelous Designer into Maya and Arnold.
Enviroment and Prop Models
Most of these models were modeled in Maya, and some were fully sculpted in Zbrush. All were textured in Substance Painter, and many share the same 1024 UV map for render optimization.
