Hello :) I'm happy to share some projects and animations I worked on over the last year. My studies at Animationsinsitut are soon to be completed, and I'm looking for a job as a 3D Character Animator in TV or feature films.

Round of applause for our sponsors

I want to start this entry with my public Animation Reel. It contains shots from student projects, so as my personal animations. All animations are created in Autodesk Maya.

Town Hall Square

a 3D short film, 2022

The diploma film "Town Hall Square" was directed by Christian Kaufmann at Animationsinstitut of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. The film shows the life of the ticket seller Bernard who sits in his little ticket booth all day. Until one day, a little tiger shows up in the underground station and brings a bit of chaos into his life.

I did Lead Animation on the film. I was responsible for finding the animation style, creating the character bibles, and also animated half of the film.

The Peanuts inspired the director, and because of that, he aimed for a graphical style, especially for the head turn. Our rigger implemented different head models into both rigs, so there was quite a significant shape change when turning the head. For that reason, I suggested we stay in Stepped and add keys where there are needed.

Please, enjoy a few shots I animated:

SCRUBBY

a 3D short film, 2023

The short film "Scrubby", directed by Paul Vollet, is his and my diploma film this year. We both graduate in July.

The film is about the child Scrubby who lives safe and warm in its mother's fur. But the mother is starting to lose her fur, and everything he knows is about to change.

Again, I took the role of the Lead Animator on this project. I developed the Animation Style, assisted in the story process and created the characters' personalities.

The story is quiet and calm, so the Animation Style must reflect that. The film is fully splined with deliberated movements. Squash and Stretch were used delicately, but in the sense of "You can feel it, but not see it!"

I oversaw a team of about six other animators during production. I communicated the style of the film so it stayed consistent and animated more than half of the film.

Here are some of my shots:

... Love You!

An animation shot

This piece is my most recent animation. It's a WIP, it still needs some time & love, but I'm proud of the current state.

I included my different passes as well as the references. The shot is about a father who made a dad joke about his teenage daughter, who came home ashamed and angry from school. He annoyed her, so she ran up to her room. He goes after her to talk about the situation.

Take a look at my Animation Breakdown:
