2023 Characters

Seamstress

I made this project while I was still studying at Animum Creativity Advanced School, so I'd like to thank all of my tutors, who helped me throughout the whole process. The objective was creating a cartoon character, a style I was not very used to but that I ended up enjoying a lot. I also made some combinable facial blendshapes which you can see on the last image. The character is based on one of these concepts by Gaëlle Mazeau.

Kelsier

This is the last character I made during the master. It's Kelsier, from the Mistborn book series by Brandon Sanderson and I used this concept art by Andoni Eskubi as a reference. Something interesting about this character is that to archieve that flowy look on the cloak I used actual wind and physics on Blender, then fixed the faces that overlapped and modified it a little bit to my liking.

The model has a total of 80.5K tris: 61.5K for the body, 17.4K for the hair and 1.6K for the two props (dagger and coin).

KUO

This is the first character I've completed on my own after the master. It's based on an illustration by Eunice Ye, tho I decided to change a few things. This project has been a big learning experience because I've gotten to use Xgen for the first time to create the hair textures and I also decided to render the model in Unreal Engine 5, which is something I'd never done before. At first I wasn't getting the results I desired, but then, as I understood the engine a little better, they improved and I'm sure that the next time it will be a lot easier and better.

The model has a total of 93,3K tris, with 6,2K for the props, 9,8K for the hair and 77,3K tris for the rest of the character.
