"Alternative Timeline" is an 3D Fashion project that transforms significant historical events and influential figures into the contemporary landscape. Embracing the intriguing chaos theory of the butterfly effect, the project delves into the captivating notion that even minor alterations in history can cascade into profound and far-reaching consequences. By exploring this concept, "Alternative Timeline" offers a captivating perspective on the potential magnitude of outcomes stemming from seemingly insignificant changes in the past.

Project #1

"Même Vieux Nouveau Riche" boldly reimagines the profound revolution that forever altered the Western world's perception of wealth and its public display—the French Revolution. This captivating collection prompts an intriguing question: "What if the French Revolution had never taken place?" Within this context, the project explores the potential challenges that modern-day royal families may face when navigating the delicate balance between extravagant dressing and the prevailing trend of "quiet luxury."

In a world where ostentation once reigned supreme, the current generation of royal families might find themselves caught between the desire to express opulence and the emerging preference for understated elegance. As "quiet luxury" continues to gain prominence in contemporary fashion, this collection delves into the hypothetical struggles and dilemmas that could arise if the grandeur of the past clashed with the subtlety embraced by today's trendsetters. Through thought-provoking design choices, "Même Vieux Nouveau Riche" invites viewers to contemplate the impact of historical events on the ever-evolving landscape of fashion and societal norms.

Additionally, I designed a baroque-styled pattern, but reinterpret into a more abstracted form of it.

The Process

I experimented with volumes of the gathers, draping, and materials (ie. all types of fur, knitted fabric and cashmere wool) to see how it drastically changes the overall "vibe" of the clothing that I aim to achieve.

Additionally, I incorporated the pattern I made onto several of the designs of this project, interpretating it as a graphic/decal and also lacing.

The Final Result

'Joan of the Internet' merges the iconic figure of Saint Joan of Arc with the contemporary internet culture. This project showcases Joan as she fearlessly confronts strangers in online forums, battling against doubters and facing gender-related challenges with unwavering self-confidence in her spirit and soul.

Drawing inspiration from the timeless beauty of Renaissance art, this project artfully references its aesthetics to create a visually stunning portrayal of Joan's journey. The silhouette and material of the armor, meticulously crafted in the digital realm, pay homage to the strength and resilience associated with this historical figure.

This project offers a unique and thought-provoking exploration of the intersection between history, technology, and fashion. This project serves as a visual testament to Joan's indomitable spirit, challenging societal norms and inspiring individuals to embrace their own inner strength, even in the face of adversity. Through the artful synthesis of Renaissance art references and cutting-edge 3D digital fashion, 'Joan of the Internet' captures the essence of Joan of Arc's remarkable journey and encourages viewers to reflect on the power of self-confidence and determination in the modern digital landscape.

The altered artwork created by applying a gradient mapping technique with red and green colors to Jules Bastien-Lepage's original depiction of Joan of Arc being captured is a fascinating reinterpretation. The deliberate use of red symbolizes Joan's unwavering fervor and unwavering belief in herself, even when faced with a hostile environment. It represents her resolute determination and fiery spirit, highlighting her remarkable courage and conviction.

The inclusion of green draws inspiration from the patina found on aged metals, reminiscent of Renaissance armors. This choice of color evokes a sense of historical depth and connection to the era in which Joan of Arc lived. By incorporating the hues of green, the altered artwork alludes to the strength and resilience often associated with the armor she wore during her battles.

The inclusion of red draws inspiration from the idea of Joan of Arc's fervor to achieve her goals even in the hostile environment that she is in, due to her gender, especially in the late-early renaissance age where that would be considered heresy.

The Process

Overall silhouette of this outfit was inspired by early renaissance Armours. I used the full-grain leather material as a base for this outfit in order to give it a "hardened" look, I then incorporated a metal texture to make it look like it is actual metal, I also incorporated the altered painting of Joan of Arc into the clothing as a contrast.

The Final Result

I mainly used 2 applications to achieve both of the project that I am presenting, which are 'Jinny' and 'Clo3D'.

For 'Jinny', I used this application to experiment with the silhouette of the garment on the model.

For 'Clo3D', I used this application to refine and finalised the garment design itself (materials, colours, accessories on models) and render in it as well.

Thank you so much for taking your time to look through these 2 projects I made, I very much appreciate it. - Rayne
