Work Place Design 1 (Common Office)

-Project Brief

To design a workplace, an office , for tiktok, at Level 20, Block B4, Leisure Commerce Square, No.9, Jalan PJS 8/9, Leisure Commerce Square, 46150 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The built-up floor area of this unit is approximately 5000 sqft (465 sqm).

The design intentions of this office space is to encapsulate workplace wellbeing through features such as chill & relax area in between the workplace; selection of colours (RGB) and material choices in its furnishing.

-Identity

TikTok provides a social media app for creating and sharing short-form mobile videos as well as live streaming. Its app is available worldwide for iOS and Android. 5000 to 10,000 Employees, founded in 2016,it is a internet and web services industry, private company , headquarters in Los Angeles, CA. TikTok is one among of the 7 products own by the China's ByteDance, which is subsidiary of ByteDance. Tiktok contents include categories like comedy, baking, food, sports, motion graphics, DIY, animals, facial treatments, etc.

-Brand Identity

The logo represents a three-color note which are pink, blue, and white against the black field. The designer was inspired by a rock concert with a dark hall and a stage lit up. It looks like a 3D: neon colors overlap each other and it signifies music vibrations. The symbols also represents the brand’s concepts – simplicity and creativity.

-Background

In 2011, Zhang Yiming observed that many users were migrating from computers to smartphones. During the time, Snapchat had started gaining popularity among the teenage crowd across many countries. Yiming wanted to create platforms whose results were powered by artificial intelligence, separate from the Chinese Search Engine, Baidu. Looking at the popularity of apps like Snapchat, Zhang Yiming started to develop an app, which is Douyin in China in September 2016. where users could create short lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos. To engage the young audience, he integrated AI to recommend similar content to the users based on their preferences and searches.‍ Seeing a great response for Douyin, the process to build the app for the global market began, which is TikTok launched in the international markets - majorly Asia and the U.S. in 2017.

Same goes to the office interior space design, an interior office space that offer workers joy & laughter through creative, flexible & multi integrated working space is the essential way to bring positive impact to the company.

Dynamic office design allows the free movement of people, the open collaboration, the division of one open space into many functional areas, making the office space fully utilisation instead of a boring working space.

Just like the TikTok App, brings us joy & laughter in our busy life.
