Abby Cruz - Character Carousel 2023
Here are some of the characters and other works I've created while studying at Gnomon. I specialize in stylized characters for games and animation! I love bringing characters to life and thinking about the world and story that surrounds them.
Moonlight Sorceress
She surveys her domain from the top of a hill in the night. The moon shines above her, and her staff absorbs its glow. The sorceress returns to her cottage in the valley, potential to cast her spells filled to the brim.
This was my first fully realized stylized character piece, which also won Best of Term at Gnomon for Winter 2023.

Medieval Warrior
This is a game character created with a medieval feel in mind. I imagine her as an elegant warrior who is strong, smart, and swift. It was fun to do the hair cards and create her intricate costume!

Spacetime Hero
Imagining the future, hope-filled, high-tech world she lives in was an interesting task as I created all of her accessories. Her suit is powered by blue energy which she also uses as ammo! She fights to protect the city and imagines an ideal world where heroes are no longer needed, as good overcomes evil.

The Gilded Giant
A knight would be remiss not to wear this armor when venturing into the dark forest. This was very interesting to model and I learned so much about hard surface modeling!

Photorealistic Interior - The Parlor
This was for Intro to Maya class. Our task with this project was to recreate an interior photo using Maya to model and Photoshop to texture.

Stylized Interior - Koi Cafe
I recreated an unused Big Hero 6 concept by Victoria Ying in Maya for a class project that took 3 weeks. I would like to visit this if it were real!

Houdini Environment - The Meadows
I created this environment procedurally using Houdini and megascans. It was a lot of fun to incorporate logic in placement of assets. An idyllic meadow that leads to a secret location!
