snowfall - a short film

2023: Cinema 4D / Redshift / Red Giant / Forger / After Effects / Logic Pro

I created this short film over the course of almost a year, on and off. Everything except most of the plants was modeled or sculpted by me. The materials are a mix of custom, ambientCG, and Quixel, which is also where most of the plants came from.

These are some process renders from one of the shots in the first scene, in the castle courtyard

3: the first color grading pass, making it lower contrast and brighter

4: the second color grading pass, using magic bullet looks and some other effects to help create more atmosphere in the scene

This was the character in the project, with the rig visible. The base character was sculpted in Forger. The dress and hair are both simulated using Cinema 4d's simulation tools. The facial animation uses the six sliders on the right of the viewport to manipulate a Pose Morph tag. In the screenshot, the character is in the base pose.

Many shots were hand animated using the rig in the screenshot, but for some more complicated ones, I downloaded motion capture from Mixamo, or used the ones in the asset browser.
