BERTO Jade - Where's the Mermaid ?

Here's my facade project, a short movie that tells the story of Claudio, an old man fascinated by a mermaid, looking for her. Will she let him contemplate her shape ?

PRE PRODUCTION

I imagined and created the story with this environment in order to invite the dreaming part of our brain.

For the final environment, I started with some sketches.

The goal was to have a shape whose shadow kind of looks to a mermaid during a certain hour.

The best way to find the good hape was to start 3D tests !

Then, color and props tests, to find the final line art and result.

PRODUCTION

Here's the modelisation and texturing aspects.

I used Maya for the modelisation, Substance painter for the textures and Nuke and Photoshop for the compositing part. 

For the rig/anim part, I used a character who was already rigged and I animated him.

I rigged some shells to make them move when Claudio walks on it.

That's it !

I learned a lot during this project, about all the process of realisation and more especially about modeling, texturing, the importance of lighting, animation, and mostly render layers. I really liked doing it !
