Midnight Snack

This is my final project for my first term at Think Tank. The goal was to recreate a concept as closely as possible in 3D. I chose the incredible concept 5min which is from Nikolai Lockertsen. The time for this project was about 4 weeks.

All assets were built in Maya. Since I also wanted to practice Mudbox, I used it to refine some parts of the figure to get a more realistic and natural look. For the texturing I used different methods like Mari for the food stand, Photoshop, Quixel Bridge and VRay shaders in Maya.
After rendering, I did some post processing in Photoshop to adjust some colors, lights and details.

Until they arrive

For my intermediate project, I created a temple scene inspired by the concept Entrance by Max Hay. The goal of this project was to create an entire scene including all necessary elements.

I built the assets in Maya, sculpted the stones for the stairs in ZBrush and composited everything in Unreal. The textures were created in Substance Painter and Substance Designer. For the tileable textures, I created base materials with different versions that I blended in Unreal, and also used decals and additional objects (such as extra bricks for the walls and floor) to break up the repetition. One of the most fun things about this project was the foliage, which I really enjoyed doing.

After finishing everything, I added dust to the atmosphere, smoke to the vessels and wind effect to the plants, and did a little post processing to adjust the colors and lights.

Final Stop

This project was for the advanced term at Think Tank. It took 14 weeks and the goal was to create a scene based on a concept we liked. I wanted to improve my foliage skills and practice creating different materials, that's why I decided for the concept The Last Train by Eddie Mendoza.

First, I made a blockout in Maya, then polished the assets and added a first pass texture, which I then refined. I used ZBrush to sculpt the wooden boards of the rails. The textures were created in Substance Designer, Substance Painter and Photoshop. I made different versions of the tileable textures, variation masks and decals and blended them in Unreal to give the materials the old and damaged look.

After lighting, I did a little post processing and also added dust to the atmosphere and wind effect to the plants.

Thank you for watching!

It's amazing for me to see how I grow with every project. It was really great to work on all of them and to learn from my incredible supervisors.
