Yulia Kravchenko - 2022/2023 Portfolio
Hi, my name is Yulia, I'm 19 years old and this is my portfolio at the end of my second year at ESMA Lyon. Hope you enjoy!
Garden Snail
The goal of this exercise was to learn how to create effective organic models, all the way from sculpting to texturing and shading. I made this project during the first three months of my second year at ESMA and was responsible for all aspects.
Softwares used: Maya, Mudbox, Nuke
For my artistic intention, I was very inspired by my immediate surroundings at the time of starting this exercise. October was a gloomy, rainy month. On most days, whenever I'd go out, I'd see a lot of snails crawling on the asphalt all around my neighborhood, and I thought that shading their bodies could be an interesting challenge. I found the warm, almost cozy coloring of their shells combined with overcast lighting and mossy asphalt to work nicely in contrast.
Still Life
This is an assignment from my first year at ESMA that I decided to revisit. I liked the initial concept, but I felt like my initial execution could have been better.
Softwares used: Maya, Mudbox, Nuke
Succulent Lookdev
Our Summer exercise this year was to create a plant in a pot. My goal behind this project was to have fun with the pot itself and to play around with the shading of the succulent leaves. I liked the roughness variation on the references that I had, and I wanted to see if I could do it justice.
Softwares: Maya, Mudbox, Nuke, Procreate, Photoshop.
I decided to go for a Sedum Clavatum succulent because I liked the experimentation possibilities that it brings for shading. The red tips, combined with a lot of SSS and noticeable variation in the roughness of the leaves, really called my attention. It is also native to Mexico, which is where I'm from.
Thank you for your time!
