A Fruitful Encounter

A Fruitful Encounter is a 2D film project created as my final year film at the University of Hertfordshire.  The film is inspired by many modern day cartoons such as The Owl House, Gravity Falls and Adventure Time. 

Erika and Otto, a human and fox, are out looking for some yummy fruit to eat. Running into a little trouble in their attempts to get the fruit. 

Character Concepts

For the designs I wanted to have 3 different characters. Following many cartoon tropes of a main humanoid character with an animal companion. I wanted the story to be set in a fantasy world where dragons existed. Creating these three characters to interact together was a lot of fun. The character who went through the most changes was Erika (the human) while Otto (fox) and Coco (dragon) kept to their original design ideas.

I wanted to create a fantasy world that is shown not only through the characters but the world around the characters. Pink sky and colourful trees and bushes were a main concept that stuck throughout the process, I wanted the plants designs and colours to be similar to our world but also stand out that they are not part of our world.
