"Beyond Clear Waters"

This is my entry for the Rookie Awards 2023 Contest in Concept Art: "Beyond Clear Waters"

Hello! My name is Marina Huidobro. I'm proud to show you all my graduation project I've worked on since I've studied in Lightbox Academy in Spain. Hope you all enjoy!

It's a project that's taken years to create and develop. A universe I've created where mermaid girls live amongst different forms of contamination that have ruined their homes. The main character from the Splash Art is "Araxie" a mermaid who's home has been ruined by plastics whilst she herself has been contaminated by oils and toxic waste.

What I aim with this project is to bring a taste of realism to a fantasy concept, this contrast is what made me want to pursue and develop this story and character designs, from humanoid designs to animals and machines.
