Purah Pad - Commercial
A game artist take on motion graphics.
As my studies are game art focused but my internship is more towards commercials and film I'v been wanting to make a tech commercial of my own and when I saw the Purah Pad from Zelda - Tears of the kingdom I knew I had found the one!
I decided to not make the model overly subdivided as I wanted to hit that sweet spot in between "motion graphics high poly" and a game ready asset.
For the pads screen I used a mix of screen capture from playing the game myself and self edited graphics as what I wanted wasn't available.
I also had a lot of fun with light, motion and cameras as I haven't gotten to play with that a lot while creating game assets.
My biggest challenge was all the swirly patterns. At first I wasn't sure what route was the best one. I first considered modeling or sculpting them but after asking my peers I finally ended on playing around with normals and height. I drew the pattern I wanted in Photoshop and applied it in Substance painter where I could get it to look exactly as I wanted.
Overall I was very happy with how this project turned out and I can't wait to experiment more with motion graphics!
