Hello everyone. This is my first year to learn game art officially in RUBIKA. Unlike the past period of self-learning, this year I have seen a lot of things I didn't know in the past. I'm glad to introduce my new personal project to you. The strong and silent hercules.

Hi there. This is my personal project that I created in May this year.

Hercules

I hope you will like it.

-DRAFT

In my vision Hercules is a giant beetle transport, composed of half-mechanical and half-biological, with the strength and stamina to easily cross the desert.

I looked up some references and drew up a design.

My main reference was Dynastes hercules, a beetle with exaggerated horns that looks cool.  ( It doesn't actually live in the desert, and I learned this too late.)

I wanted to create a stylized design, and I referred to the HARZACH and the art of the Borderland.

-MODELING

I finished the base model in 3Ds max. Sculpted the details in ZBrush.

And painted the texture in Substance 3D painter. And rendered in toolbag4. So we got the original version.

I'm actually very happy with the original version. It's just that I think it's not stylized enough compared to the sketch. I added a black outline in toolbag and some lines on the texture to give it a more hand-drawn look.

On top of that I added a small scene for it. I made a stylized desert material in Substance Designer,Made also some rocks and some vegetation in Zbrush.

I wanted to add some storytelling to the scene. So I made some small props and cables to link it to this scene.

This is a desert supply depot hidden in the rocks where Hercules resupplies.

In the last iteration I added more hand-drawn lines to Hercules to make him look a little more detailed.
