Camille Lecture Demo 2023

Camille Lecture
by CamilleLecture on 31 May 2023 for Rookie Awards 2023

I am pleased to share with you my best projects after almost 3 years studying 3D at ESMA LYON. They gather studies I have done to develop my way to observe and to look for how to reach the best result possible, as well as a complete short animated project done from the script. Above all they convey my love for 3D.

DIGITAL PORTRAIT

This project was an interesting challenge in my travel through 3D. To reproduce the face of another student in the most realistic possible took a long time and led me to work a lot on my way to observe the tiny details. It was also the opportunity to test XYZ textures and Meta Human to reach a nice result.

The albedo was painted on MARI from real photographies of the skin of the original subject, as the albedo of the eyes. The goal was to be the closest possible from reality.

WOLF

The main goal of the wolf head project was to discover grooming. It has been truly fascinating to do researches about the anatomy and the way to behave of the fur. It gave me a fresh look on that animal and a particular taste for grooming.

I've chosen to stylise a little the animal to give it a real appealing face, far from the big bad wolf. I wanted him to be smooth, with warm eyes and a big, big nose to smell his environment.

MONSTER HOUSE

The Monster House is the first short movie I worked on from the root to the final result. It was captivating to see the progress of the project step by step. The House allowed me to work on every aspect from the concept arts, the animation, the modeling of the environment... until the final compositing and editing.

I was mainly inspired by the old dark european fairy tale atmospheres to build this little short movie. Especially from Babayaga's house or Hansel and Gretel's tale.

The character rig and modeling was from the ESMA movie "La BoƮte"

Winter night. A man is lost in the forest surrounded by howling wolves when he discovers an uncanny house. Will it be the safe place he is looking for or a hidden trap?

MORPHO

The study of the butterfly was a great exercice to learn how to approach living creatures in CG. How to make polygons believable and to be the closest possible to real morphos. The wings of this insect was challenging and all the researches led me to pay more attention to the most tiny creatures.

I've worked on the shape of the creature directly in Autodesk Maya and it was my first experience adding hairs.
