Linotype
Hello! I would like to share with you my Final project for the Intermediate term at Think Tank online this year. Thank you for looking!
Hello, everyone! This is my first time participating in a contest like this. This year I want to share my 5-week Final project for the Intermediate term and Think Tank online with you. It is based on the Charter Stone Linotype Machine concept by Or Taieb. This concept was truly a joy to work on.
It was modeled in Maya, textured in Mari and rendered in Vray with trim decorations added in Zbrush.
Original Concept by Or Taieb
One of the challenges I had with this project was in trying to make it look "realistic" while at the same time retaining the whimsical/magical feel that the concept has. I decided to go for a brass material for a lot of the main pieces, making it slightly less "golden" than the concept while retaining the vibrant blues in the rest of the materials.
I added the decorative trim details in Zbrush using alphas from Milad Kambari. Then generated displacement maps and masks for all the trims. Texturing was done in Mari's node graph.
