Fish Night

It took me a very long time to say a hard yes to a concept, almost a month of searching, browsing through thousands of concepts and finally falling in love with Devin's cosy art style.

By no means I could have done justice to her talent but I still gave my best to be as close to her as possible. In hindsight, I wish I had gone for a hand-painted and stylised look. I love her work and it always brings warmth to my heart.

I hope to make something of that effect myself someday. I started the blockout in Blender and created base animals, characters, buildings and rocks. Then took the rough meshes to Zbrush for proper sculpting. Rigging and posing in the blender was one of the most tedious parts. After some UV it was time for maya for shading, lighting and rendering. Lastly, some light composting in Photoshop.
