Digital Compositing Demo Reel 2023

by PaulaBC on 14 May 2023 for Rookie Awards 2023

This is my submission for the Rookie Awards 2023. I'm very fond of these shots, not only because I like the way they turned out in the end, but also because I had some problem in all of them that pushed me to the limit and forced me to think of different ways to solve them. I hope you like this demo reel!

This is my submission for the Rookie Awards 2023. I'm very fond of these shots, not only because I like the way they turned out in the end, but also because I had some problem in all of them that pushed me to the limit and forced me to think of different ways to solve them. I hope you like this demo reel!

As a Star Wars fan, I couldn't resist picking up these two proposals from the school. I struggled quite a bit with the 3D interface in Nuke, especially with the smokes, but it didn't cost me as much as the color correction; although I'm quite happy with the final result.

Getting the main character in this scene to look good was quite tricky, especially because I couldn't get the intensity of the power sphere around him down without losing it completely. And let's not talk about the Camera Tracker, which I couldn't get it to come out. But everything ended up coming together, thank goodness.

This scene is one of my favorites, especially when comparing the beginning and the end. The helicopter volumetrics gave a bit of trouble, but overall everything flowed.

Here I had problems with the snow, as it was only the second time I used the particles in Nuke; I think the final result is quite plausible.

I wanted to work on a scene with a video game style somewhat different from what I had already done. The color correction was difficult because the whites were too overexposed.
