Welcome to my entry for this year's Rookies Awards! Here I will showcase and break down my CG Generalist showreel which I created as a self-taught artist to show the skills I've gained over the past 3 years.

    2023 entry for the Rookies

Hi there! My CG Generalist and environment showreel is a collection of my best work in the field of computer graphics. As a self-taught CG Generalist, I have a broad range of skills that allow me to work on various aspects of creating digital content. From modeling and texturing to lighting and compositing, I'll try to give a detailed breakdown of four projects and some deeper insights into my process of creating those projects.

The Star Wars " Personal Project "

For this project, I was inspired by the movie " The Star Wars Avengers Infinity War", I took a scene as a reference to start my project, then I started the process of recreating the scene from scratch.

This was my reference scene.

The First challenge I faced was setting up the camera from my reference and modeling rough block out. it wasn't as easy as I expected, I did many trials up until I came up with a right scale and camera setup.

After the block-out stage, I had to import my low-poly model to Zbrush in order to make it more detailed

Then the texturing part was beginning, I make UVs for the Low-poly model and then bake it with the detailed model. For this stage, I used substance painter to make the material that doesn't appear repeatable. I used different masks for the cliff material

The last part of the 3D stage was the trees, I used speedtree for the tree models and scattering by chaos scatter. the final assembly was inside 3Dsmax and I rendered it with Vray.

The Final stage was the compositing stage, I import the render sequence to Nuke. I used a simple setup inside Nuke to add atmospheric depth, tweaking the lights and it's colors to match the reference and simple card setup to add the waterfall and clouds elements.

               BLADE RUNNER 2049 " Personal Project "

For this project, I was inspired by the movie " Blade Runner 2049 ", I took a scene as a reference to start my project, then I started the process of recreating the scene from scratch.

This was my reference scene.

For the Building model, I used KITBASH 3D futuristic city. I did the lay-out and Camera setting inside MAYA.

The challenging part about this project was the fog element and how to match it with the reference. in my first attempt, I tried to use the Vray fog, but it increased the render time so significantly. So,  the solution was I used the Z depth pass element to make the same effect inside Nuke in the compositing stage.

Here's the breakdown

           The Japanese Village

My purpose for this project was to show my skills in real-time UE5, I started this project by gathering references for an old Japanese village. I was influenced by the style of "Ghost of Tsushima". Most of the models were from Megascans.

Here's the breakdown of the project

The Star Wars Mandalorian " Personal Project"

For this project, I was inspired by the movie " The Star Wars Mandalorian", I took a scene as a reference to start my project, then I started the process of recreating the scene from scratch.

This was my reference scene.

The most challenging part of this project was the Cliff modeling, I created a low poly model inside Maya, then I export it to Zbrush to sculpt the high detail

The next stage was the texturing part, I used substance painter to create the materials. many different mask were used to mix the 4 different materials

For the DMP, I used photoshop for creating the DMP for the distant mountains

I modeled the spaceship to showcase my skills in hard surface modeling

I assembled the scene and rendered it out inside Maya and Vray

The Final stage was the compositing stage, I import the render sequence to Nuke. I used a simple setup inside Nuke to add atmospheric depth, tweaking the lights and their colors to match the reference.

Thank you for taking the time to read my entry, I hope you liked these insights into the creation of my reel!
