This series of projects aimed at creating visual elements for Rap-artist Texvor's recently released album called "Marty Black Fly":

- The album cover
- Spotify Canvas
- Concert opening scene

As you might have guessed it the album is heavily based on the "Back to the Future" movies we all love. I have thus tried to include emblematic elements from the movies

Album Cover

The whole project started with the design of the Album cover.
After a bad experience with another cover designer I offered Texvor to put my freshly learned skills to use and started putting this scene together.
The DeLorean model was downloaded from Sketchfab (JCulley3D) and reshaded to our liking.

After everthing was aligned the way we wanted, I rendered everything in Houdini with Karma and comped the EXRs in Nuke

Spotify Canvas

I originally started modelling the TV and flux capacitor in Blender but moved quickly back to Houdini, as I grew more comfortable with Houdini's workflow and navigation.

After taking shots from his music videos which were edited in Adobe Premiere to look like a CRT screen I jumped back into Houdini to apply it to the TV screen.

All 3D elements were shaded and rendered in Houdini using Mantra and the passes were assembled and comped in Nuke for the final result.

Concert Opening Scene

This originally started as a gag, but I enjoyed modelling the scene and adapting it to Texvor's universe.
Back to the Future connoisseurs will jump out of their chairs knowing that the movies were distributed by Universal, and not 20th Century Fox, but making the lightning bolt strike the clock at the top of the building just made more sense than on a globe :)

Making the lights burn off from back to front added a more dramatic ambiance Texvor's his entrance on stage.

The whole scene was created in Houdini, rendered with Mantra, comped in After Effects in  a day's time.
