African Elephant
This African Elephant is a personal project I wanted to do for a while. Elephant are splendid creatures, very smart and impressive. I wanted to represent their strength and beauty by depicting a young specimen, advancing right on us, determined but without any agression.
I'm happy yo introduce you a personal project.
You need to know that I love animals, it's a pure pleasure to be able to represent creatures in 3D.
I love studying anatomy, observing all these singular and splendid beings.
For some times, I wanted to work on the realisation of an elephant. They are fascinating animals, reflecting strength and sensitivity.
This project was very instructive technically and I'm glad I did it!
I hope you'll enjoy it!
Here is a turn of this elephant
Here you can see the assembled beauty, matte integration and compositing.
I made the base modeling with Maya, then I did many retakes and the details on ZBrush, the the lookdev with Substance/Maya/Renderman, groom with Xgen, FX (for the dust wake) with Houdini . Compositing was done with Nuke and some adjustments for the dust wake with Procreate.
Here is a quick breakdown of the dust wake I made in Houdini
