The Train Station

This is my final project I did for my digital matte painting class during my Year 3 of studies. I initially only proceed with the post-apocalypse themed train station happening during the modern days, as shown in the sketches which only focused on the environment scene. After having several feedbacks I added some story-telling elements by adding a character facing a few zombie-like creatures that may harm her as there’s blood splattering everywhere to raise the tension of the scene.

Adventure Within the Realms

The concept of ‘Adventure Within the Realms' surrounds a Chinese fantasy theme with the idea of six realms wheel of life in the Chinese’s belief.

The story is about a rebellious but independent orphan, named Yu, which died past hours ago, waking up realising she has ascended to heaven. Unfortunately after going through her life’s justification, unfolds that she’s not supposed to be here but the god of heaven gives her a choice to complete a huge mission in exchange to stay in this realm and not suffer anymore. As story continues, she explores these six different realms and meet different beings in the world as she discovers the truths throughout this journey.

Temple of Sambhota

'Temple of Sambhota' is a group project I did with my classmates which surrounds a fantasy themed, mainly talking about magic. 

The story is about the main character that stays in the village called Sambhota, is under evil spelled by the head priestess of Temple of Sambhota, which caused a pandemic disease happening in the village. The story unfolds by the main characters eventually finding out who's the culprit of this whole chaos and an intensive battle within both protagonists and antagonists. 

The character I did for this group project is named Kalra, the main antagonist of the story. She is the spy in this story and undercover as a head priestess in order to take over Sambhota village. For her design, I showcase that she's holding a cup where the incense is burning to indicate she’s a priestess. I also applied patterns on her clothes to kinda show a cultural vibe, and with layers to add more volume. The hat which is covering her eyes to make her look more mysterious like she’s hiding something.

For the creature I did here is named Elnod, also known as the nightwalker, one of the main creatures in this story. It exists in many amount, and it's the after effect of evil magic applied on humans. Hence, the design is humanoid with 2 arms and legs, but with longer nails, different amount of toes and a different face features compared to humans. I also applied human features like muscles, ribcage, and also the spine.

This is a personal medical kit which is used by Tavia, the physician in this story. This medical kit is always carried along with her for emergency uses. I added things like surgical tools, herbs, grinder, cups, books, bottles of medicine etc. I made this medical kit volume bigger but have a few compartments to contain these much of things without mixing all of them together. 

The concept of this airship is the enemies' airship that is used to observe Sambhota village and it can go transparent with magic applied. For the design i applied patterns and logo to give more of a cultural kind of vibe too. 

This is the vista shot of the Temple of Sambhota where its located in the hills. The design of the building is done by my classmate whereas the vista shot of the scene is done by me. :)

The Wicked Spell

'The Wicked Spell' is a personal project I did in the early Year 3 studies. It's surrounds a fantasy themed where wizards are hidden identities which lives in a region where nobody knows. They trick and manipulate human minds to bring them into their world, and to make them as their slaves. The setting is in the hidden area which wizards stay, work, and torture humans.

These characters are both the top wizards among the hierarchy in the hidden world Aquilrus. Both of them have a doll structure skin which can let them fake as if they aren't “alive” when they're staying still. In the meanwhile, underneath their skin, they are actually similar to humans with skin and flesh.

This creature is a massive sized spider which lives inside a huge cave, and chew humans as food. It has boned-structured spine and legs, slimy flesh under its' spine, as well as blades attached on its' front legs. It helps wizards to kill failed experiment humans which protests just by stepping them dead.
