Synopsis

Set in futuristic neo-Venice, ‘Robo Ramen’ tells the story of a dishwashing robot who dreams of becoming a top chef. But only when the owner has an unexpected accident, does he get the chance to step up to the plate.

The Story Behind 'Robo Ramen'

'Robo Ramen' is a short animated film that was developed as a submission for Epic Games' Unreal Engine Short Film Challenge.

The Master of Animation and Visualisation students were one of 7 successful educational teams selected from more than 2200 registrants.

Following their selection, the students received two weeks of training using  the newly launched games software Unreal Engine 5. They then got to work creating this animated short film in just 8 weeks.

The 28 masters students worked tirelessly to develop the story, characters and environments, then build, collate and animate the assets (including metahumans and motion capture), then added music and sound to the project.
