Hi everyone!:) For this texture contest I did a Megazord toy version of the Rig_B. It was a fun project and I really enjoyed work on it!

Update - 10 Apr 2023

For this project I tried to do a toy like the original Power Ranger Megazord. I did some research on the internet and at a second hand shop to have references. I took pictures of an old dammage Iron Man toy. Than I decided to do a black grainy plastic with metalic paint on it.

I collected all my reference in PureRef to have everything in one place.

After my research I worked on Substance Painter to apply colors and get as close as possible to my reference. It was a long process of back and forward to have the result that I wanted. Than I work with the roughness, metalness and normal at the same time.

I also used Photoshop to create the decals of the shoulders and legs.

I used Arnold to do my shader and to have a good render. I had to use a Layershader to apply two differents shader on the bag mesh. One for the metal and one for the fake leather.

Here are some close up of my Megazord_B

I saw the contest a little bit late. I started my project at the beggining of march. I had planned to do a background of a bedroom to understand more that my Megazord was a toy, and had some light in a front and at the spinal, but I spent to much time to apply the colors in Substance.

I leaned that I have to organised my workflow better to not loose time, and a project can be improved all the time but you have to know when to stop at some point. ;)

I would like to thanks the 3d Artist Jonathan Reilly, maya Rigger Mike Waterworth and 3ds Max rigging artist Paul Neale, to have the chance to work on this amazing project.
