And here's my final render!

I adjusted the camera angles to add more action to the scene and to stray away from the very static look my scene would have originally had. I also would have liked to add more complex animation, but I am pretty happy with how this has turned out. It has been a great animation project to work on and has helped me develop an understanding of HumanIK I did not have before!

I had to make some changes to my animation after the storyboard stage. Originally, I planned for Rig.B to sulk away in defeat but could not get the position to look natural, so I instead opted to give the animation a happier ending with Rig.B catching flower in mid-air.

Here is the final animation block out!

Planning

For my entry I want to create something that feels very organic and energetic for Rig.B to contrast the robotic style of the model. First, I considered animating Rig.B coming across a ball and throwing it against the edge of the frame, only for the ball to bounce right back and knock Rig.B over.

After this basic storyboarding, I realised that the animation for Rig.B would actually be very stagnant and did not create the energy I wanted in the scene. So, I decided to change it up.

My next idea was to have Rig.B pick up a flower that would be caught by the wind and float away. I think that Rig.B scrambling to try to grab the flower would be far more dynamic and interesting to watch! So for this scene I needed a flower, which I have sculpted in ZBrush, here is the process and the storyboard.

Working on this constest has been the first time I have used a rig with HumanIK, so I have spent some time playing around with the rig and exploring how to animate the character and I think I am now in a position where I can go forward and work on my final animation.
