WHAT IF...?

WHAT IF…Thanos was not a Titan, or something without “flesh”. So I decided to have him be a machine, Rig B is the good choice for it.

Update - 5 Apr 2023

Marvel showed us how creative it can be for every single character to be different from their original form  in their WHAT IF…? Series. Even core members that are being built up for 10 years or more can be changed and present in an unexpected yet strong way.

In the series, Thanos, the ultimate villain character for the MCU universe, could escape from the reformation of his character. They changed his personalities but still, he’s still himself, as a Titan species. That’s it, that’s when I think WHAT IF…Thanos was not a Titan, or something without “flesh”. So I decided to have him be a machine, Rig B is the good choice for it.

Here are the results.

I used Adobe Substance Painter for the whole texturing process. I found Substance Stager to be a great renderer for my lookdev session, although all the outcomes are rendered by Vray.

Taking note that he’s in the middle of battle, the texture of his body shouldn’t look new. I did a lot of studying into rust armor, stripping paint, scratches, and some worn texture.

Some baking progress.

Here are some of my references.

Hope you like the outcome of Mecha Thanos by me.
