project BEYOND

It all began when I was asked to create an android concept. Based on the requirements, I asked myself questions as to explain as much aspects of the robot as possible, in order to make my design the more functional and purposeful.

I designed the suit with a similar aesthetic to the robot companion. It had to be sturdy for protection, yet light and easy to move around in.

The crew 

As with Alvis, I began with a thorough search of personnality and building a background story for each character in order to guide my designs. I identified the roles I would need to build a capable team of explorers, and I wanted them to come from different horizons - be it home country, occupation, character traits or development.

The ship

The main challenge while creating the spaceship was to make the whole thing BELIEVABLE. "What energy does the ship run on?" "How can I store enough food for a trip of unkown lenght?" "How to stock, filter and refill fresh air and water for the crew?" "How can the crew take care of their personal igiene?" Such questions led me to creative problem solving.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to explore what the interior would look like within the Rookies 2023 deadline. However, I will definitely be working on that whenever I have time in the next fiew weeks. I invite you to follow my social media for any updates on the project!
