Fabio Marzo Environment art for Games

Fabio Marzo
by fabiomarzo on 24 May 2019 for Rookie Awards 2019

This is a selection of my favorite works as I finish up my demo reel at Gnomon. Not every piece is fully finished, but I have so enjoyed my journey and will continue to love it as I go on.

Specky Environment

Unreal sequence.

Wireframe passes on several of the main game assets.

Serpent Temple Environment

Serpent Temple flythrough

Serpent hero asset substance pass.

Snowy Dream Interior

The image above was my favorite interior environment to work on because of the beautiful emotion the scene evokes, all thanks to the original artist Patrick O'Keefe!

Nomad Mech Hard Surface Project

These images were created with the really fun new filters in the newest version of Zbrush and the mech was based on a concept by the very talented artist Mathieu Latour-Duhaime.

Since the entire project was created in ZBrush for my advanced sculpting class, here is a look at the topology created in Zmodeler which was the primary tool for creating the mech.

...and here is a turnaround of the completed model.

Lord Soth character for games

The character is the inimitable Lord Soth, tragic death knight from the Dragonlance Saga is shown in Unreal Engine. He is actually part of a larger scene that is currently a work in progress.

Above is the high poly Zbrush sculpt I created of the character based on sketches by various artists.

Above is an Unreal Engine close up of the armor detailing, below is the low poly wireframe of the character coming in at around 35k tris.

Lamborghini Centenario

Below is a turnaround with wireframe exposed.

Work in Progress images. Proceed with caution, many of these are undergoing changes and being updated!

Queen's Welcome(above) was a projected completed for a digital sets class and is currently being reworked and animated. It is based on artwork by Jeremy Fenske.

These images are part of an art test I completed within a limited time frame from concept to complete environment. I logged 80 hours on the project and I am currently reworking it to have a larger environment beyond the scope of the limited space. All the textures are 2k or less and the scene has been optimized for VR as per the stipulations of the test.

Here is a low poly model of a gas pump and the Iray render taken from Substance Painter with completed textures.
