Welcome, all! My name is Dominic Barbuto, and I'm a new Game Development student at Full Sail University, and this small game is my entry for The Rookies Contest of 2022.

It is a First-Person and Third-Person demo reel in simplest terms, but the mechanics behind everything are quite interesting. Go buy some dice at the corner store, check out some of my work in the process, and throw the dice and see what you get. However, the way that the dice are thrown and the way the results are calculated are really what's special about Dynamic Dice.

Dynamic Dice focuses on showcasing my skills as an artist as well as a programmer. I have done all of the following (except for a couple of select textures and one audio clip) :

-Modeling

-Unwrapping/Texturing

-Audio including SFX and voice acting

-Programming

-Timeline cutscene work

I can easily say that as I've progressed through this project throughout the course of the past few months, I have definitely advanced my modeling skills and definitely my texturing skills.

Most of the models were crafted just by eye-balling reference pictures of real-world objects. I can easily say that throughout this project over the course of the past few months, I have gotten much better with each aspect of development and it was a great learning experience.

All work was created in Blender, Photoshop, 3D Substance Painter, Audacity, and of course, Unity. I hope you enjoy it!

This project started out as just being a simple scene, with a couple of buildings. I purely just wanted to have fun and get better at making more realistic architecture and props. The entire Dice game idea didn't come until way after.

And then I began to start getting carried away with details. In some places, a bit too far - a lesson learned for the future; in other places, it felt necessary to make the city scene come more to life.

However, there is so much more to Dynamic Dice than just modeling and texturing. There are a ton of things going on in the background, programmatically-wise. By the end of the project, which you will see the full result at the bottom of this page, there are now a ton of things depending on each other and a ton of moving parts. I wish I had spent more effort in showcasing the coding side of this project, but this video will have to do.

Here is the link to download the game. On the site itch.io itself, there are instructions for download. Very simple, just extract and run the 'Dynamic Dice.exe' -

Thank you! I hope you enjoyed it!
