My little big journey through 3D with Animum (Class of 2020-2021)
Hey there! Here is the very first time I have participated in The Rookies Awards ever. I want to show you a little sum of the results of the Master's Degree in 3D Character Modeling of Animum Creativity Advanced School I coursed last year. Enjoy!
Cartoon Project - “The Heartbreaker”
Project: Project of the third and fourth modules of the Master degree in 3D Character Modeling for Cinema & Videogames at Animum - Creativity Advanced School.
Tutored by: Mario Cortés Montes De Oca
Year: 2021 – 2022
Inspired by the concept art of Sasha Tudvaseva
The "Heartbreaker" is the project of the cartoon module of the Master degree in 3D Character Modeling for Cinema & Videogames at Animum - Creativity Advanced School.
I have improving it these during the last weeks, remaking the textures with more details, reviewing the mesh, converting the hair to xgen and creating a skeleton for the basic rig.
As much fun as I had with this project, I have learnt a lot though the whole process, and I am so happy with the result. I have had the opportunity to practice with Marvelous and XGen, two softwares that have surprised me with their results.
Creature Project - “The Donkestra”
Project: Project of the second and third modules of the Master degree in 3D Character Modeling for Cinema & Videogames at Animum - Creativity Advanced School.
Tutored by: Ronald Kury & Juan Puerta
Year: 2020 – 2021
Inspired by the concept art of Sam Santala
The "Donkestra" is the project of the creature module of the Master degree in 3D Character Modeling for Cinema & Videogames at Animum - Creativity Advanced School.
It was quite a challenge because it is the first creature that I modeled. I had to study the anatomy of various creatures as the Donkestra is a mixture of various real animals (big cats, gliders, birds, insects...).
For the pose I wanted something that would show the creature's grandeur, so I decided to model a scene where it was protecting its eggs in its nest high in the mountains from some kind of threat.
With this project I strengthened my abilities to model something new by mixing different real references, taking my creativity a little further. And, although it has its shortcomings, I am satisfied with the result of my first creature.
Anatomy Project - “The Human”
Project: Project of the first and second modules of the Master degree in 3D Character Modeling for Cinema & Videogames at Animum - Creativity Advanced School.
Tutored by: Juan Puerta
Year: 2020 – 2021
The "Human" is the project of the human anatomy module of the Master degree in 3D Character Modeling for Cinema & Videogames at Animum - Creativity Advanced School.
This project was the first one I modeled during my Animum studies. I had never studied anatomy before, nor worked with Zbrush and Maya, let alone carried out a realistic human being, but here is the result. What a challenge!
Happy and surprised with the first approach to Zbrush, Maya and Substance Painter software.
That's all!
Finally, I want to take the opportunity to thank all the people that helped me with their feedback, both companions and friends. And to Animum staff and tutors too.
Softwares used: Autodesk Maya, Marvelous Designer, Adobe Substance Painter, Texture Set Mixer, XGen for Maya and Arnold Render for Maya.
And last but not least, I want to thank YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Spotify and my dogs Patán and Pinyol for all those long nights accompanying me in front of the computer.
Hope you liked it and thank you very much for your time!
Stay safe!
