Magical Boy!  is an animation series project. I helped in the concept art department to develop some of the basic looks for the characters, and also some of the expression exploration, specially for the faceless flame. That was a little tricky! But in the end, it was a fun project to work in, and I learned a lot.

Next project was a little steampunk exploration. I was asked to do some concept art of the character, an environment piece, a couple props and transportation that could work in a post-apocalyptic steampunk setting. This is what I developed.

The transport I'm fond of because it was such an interesting task thinking about the features of it, and how people would be protected of the toxic smoke if it was supposed to be open. Also, with toxic smoke, there couldn't be any horses taking it forward, they would've had to use gas masks with oxygen, but oxigen is way too expensive to waste it on horses in this reality, so something else was invented as a piece of engineer that would solve that problem.

Environment was such a challenge for me, since I feel I have very little practice at it and I was asked to do a port, or at least some place that showed the toxic smoke and rebellious face of the city. Finally, I decided to go with the port, and focused to show the toxicity and the divided nature of the city.

After this I'll be showing some of the projects for the Concept Art Course I took last year.

First is the Asgard project. The brief asked for an icy place with a clear gate/portal that could be the one to get to Asgard. It was quite challenging at first, since at the time I didn't understand much about painting ice, but I think I did a nice job now looking back!

The next project was about creating some interior space in which a character of our own creation could live. The task was to understand how perspective works, to fill the place with objects the character could be using daily and it could be done in any style. I chose to mix it up a little :D

The brief for the next project asked for a ceremonial glass knife, and it could be any color, but the textures of the elements in it had to be understandable. My knife is made of fire opal, and it's used by locals of a fictional Island as a way to give their god (a tiger) some offerings.

Next one was an exercise to show the development of any kind of deformity or sickness in an arm. Mine was the arm of a fictional miner who was exposed to a parasitical fungi, similar to puff mushrooms, that slowly took the host's body for themselves.

This next project goal was to transform an old artwork into something more elaborate and to give it a new life. I chose an animal of my creation and it's rider, who are trying to cross the desert. The animal is a mix of different features that would help it survive the hardships of the environment it lives in. It's extremely useful for a rider, since it can cross deserts, snowy paths and it can also swim, using it's tail to push themselves through the water. It has very good grip to climb trees or rocky places too, so it truly fills all the needs. The catch: they are not easy to encounter and they choose their riders based on chemistry, so do not attempt to domesticate.

Thank you so much! I hope you've liked my progress so far, and I'll be making some more of this in the future days, for next's year ocassion!
