The Price of a Heart is an illustrative novella based on my personal IP. It's about a young boy named Ronan that journeys to reunite his stolen heart from an evil witch. 

This year I worked on the pre-production for this project and below are some Character Designs for Chapter 2.

Character Designs

In Chapter 2, Ronan becomes very ill without his heart. So, he goes to The Heartmaker for a replacement.

Below are Character Designs for both Ronan and The Heartmaker, and my process. I wanted them to be equipped with various tickets and patterns, and I wanted each character to have a heart motif around their neck.

Above: Along with Ronan, I also designed his blue jay companion, Ally. 

Above are some ideation sketches and exploration for The Heartmaker's outfit. I wanted to have a 'Sad Santa Claus' archetype, but with some clockwork thrown in.

For the title design, I wanted to use a fairy-tale aesthetic and have the illustration symbolise the journey Ronan (left, behind P) takes through the book until he reaches the end and reunites with his heart (right, in the box).
