Update - 14 Jan 2022

The rendering is over! It's a  better quality now, I hope I'm still in time!
Animating such a complex character was a new experience to me, it was quite an adventure.
Thank you for this exciting opportunity!
Feel free to give me feedback and reviews, I'm all ears :)

Update - 14 Jan 2022

Here is my final animation!
I wish I had more time to work on it and add detail, but I'm happy anyway with the result.
Sadly my pc was too slow rendering, so I made a low quality version to upload in time. I'll upload a better version when my pc is done rendering.
Enjoy!

Update - 11 Jan 2022

Here I am finally with a new update! Unfortunately I got covid during Christmas break, so I've been working on this project way less than I thought I would and because of this I'm behind schedule, but I'll try my best to make it.

Here is a first blocking pass; I changed the ending because I felt like everything was too fast, so instead of making him run away I made him react to the human arriving.
There is still much to do and a lot of detail I need to add so without further ado I'll get back to work. If you have some suggestions or feedback I would really appreciate it. Thanks :)

Update - 14 Dec 2021

Hey there! Here's my first entry for the Knight Spider animation contest, Advanced-Action category.

As you can see, so far I've been planning the scene environment, getting an idea of the available room, the selection of the assets and the best way to place them into the Maya scene. I also made a couple tests with the lights to see if I could show a human's presence through its shadow. For now it's just a draft of how the shadow could appear.

Here's a sketch of the action I would like to animate. I'm not a good illustrator but it's enough for me to better plan the animation and have a clearer idea.

The Spider comes down from the floor lamp and stealthily makes his way next to the sofa, where he hides until he breaks cover by jumping and rolling.
He's very confident and continues to move forward but suddenly a giant shadow appears and dominates the scene. It's a human! The Spider is terrified and escapes in a funny way.

For now that's all. Can't wait to start blocking!

Let me know what you think!
