Printed Digital Garment Experimentation - Grace Moore
Digital garments created using Marvelous Designer, featuring original print designs.
My name is Grace Moore and I am currently studying Fashion Textiles at the University for the Creative Arts, focussing on print design and visualising these into illustrations or physical garments. In my second year I have discovered a passion for digital garment creation using 3D software such as Marvelous Designer. I took part in a short course held by the university to learn some of the skills and basics of this software, developing my knowledge in this field. This has allowed me to create a collection of garments, which I have also incorporated some of my own digital print designs into.
This mood board of imagery shows some of the shapes, garments and designers including Teatum Jones, Stina Randestad and Roei Derhi, that inspired my own digital garment ideas and construction.
For this collection I also created some original print designs, as this is the focus on my current university degree course. I wanted to create some new, reworked animal prints as I feel these could link to our almost animalistic behaviour in lockdown, as we have been cut off from society, staying in our home habitats and have had to survive. Animal prints such as leopard spots are always popular every season, but I feel that we need the bright colours and new look to make us stand out and feel like we have instantly dressed up with just one or two powerful, stand-out garments, without too much thought and effort, as we start to venture out after so long!
These are my final four looks, incorporating mesh cutting, quilting, ruffles and more!
Look 1- Printed turtleneck top, trousers with gathered sections down the leg worn with organza overcoat
Look 2- Printed ruffle skirt with cropped top and puffer jacket
Look 3- Mesh cut long jacket with cropped top and printed trousers
Look 4- Printed coat with structured sleeves, oversized collar and ruffle details
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my designs! This is still a new process and way of working for me but I have really enjoyed working in the 3D, virtual space and I am excited to build on my skills and expand my knowledge in the future!
