 The Siraïne.

When I was young, I wanted to watch a show with orcas as I was fascinated by them.  And then, I grew up and learn about captivity. So I decided to change my mind about circus, and captivity shows. I learn a lot more about wildlife.  For this one, I create a background about captivity effect and symbiosis. The version of this creature is a juvenile one.  The adults were captive and from a generation to another, they start to become what we know about them now.

I choose a scifi aquatic circus to follow the way of mezmering circus more than a funny one, a mix between cabinet of curiosities and beautiful magic tricks. At the beginning a circus provides rarity and amazing. We go to the circus to see what we cannot see during our normal routine. Those Siraïne are rare. So the circus is a privilege to see them because Siraïne reproduce themselves once in every month in a spectacular way called : "Hatching stars".

The Siraïne live with some tiny symbiotic other creatures who help them produce luminescence. They can breathe underwater but also outside so they do some acrobatics light shows juste before release a bunch of symbiotic larva after they grew up, and a part of their DNA goes with them. As few will instinctively mix up together, they will create a new entity to surround them and protect them. A new Siraïne is born.

The hatching looks like a bunch of blue fireflies,  as the symbiotic tiny critters looks like they are stars trying to reach the sky. Everyone want to touch the wet and jelly skin of the Siraïne but they have venimous tentacles. The childrens talk to "catch a star”. It has become a ritual during the show to make a wish if we can catch one of the symbiotic creature. But if a human touch one, they will dry and perish at once.

The creature are hosted in The Merelus, the only ship where we can see them only by night when they open the aquarium.
