ANIMATION REEL

This is my animation reel. Everything was animated in Maya and Rendered in Arnold. The rigs are made by Kielfiggins, Truong CG Artist, Robert Campbell and Barajoun Entertainment. The environments are a mixture of Quixel Megascans and Kitbash 3D.

HONOURS GAME ANIMATION PROJECT

This is an ongoing game animation project I am working on at the moment, the aim is to create animations and implement them into an animation system in Unreal Engine. Through this project I am learning how to capture mocap data with Vicon Cameras and Shōgun Live and clean up the data in MotionBuilder and create an animation system in Unreal. The rig Viking was created by Mihail Kamenker and the Unified Interactive Water System is created by Elliot Gray.

ANIMATIONS:

The mocap data was captured in Shōgun Live, batched in Shōgun Post and then cleaned up in MotionBuilder. The Swimming animations and the transition animation were hand-key animated in Maya.

BLUEPRINT AND ANIMATION SYSTEMS:

In my scene I have set up an animation system where the character has an idle which transitions into a walk, then a run which is the main locomotion state. From there the character can transition into a sprint by holding down the Left Shift key while still running or he can transition back into the walk state by holding down the left Left Ctrl key.

There is a physics volume in the lake so when the character walks far enough into the lake he will transition into his swimming state. A blend space is used to transition in between the treading water animation and the breaststroke swimming, If left shift is held down while swimming forward, the character will speed up and transition into freestyle swimming. If the character swims out of the physics volume, he will transition back into running.

3RD YEAR GAME ANIMATION PROJECT

I created this project last semester, it was the first time I had created animations and systems and a playable character in Unreal Engine. The rig I used was created by Keilfiggins and the environment was created by Alex Bellotti.

ANIMATIONS:

The animations were created in Maya, then exported into Unreal Engine.

ANIMATION SYSTEMS:

I used a blend space to get the character transition from idle to walk. Then some basic transition rules to get the character to jump. Once I finished the walk and jump system, I added an idle variation where the character would transition into an alternate idle if he had been still for longer than 10 seconds which would transition back into the standard idle.
