Promotional Pop-Up Exhibition (Hangzhou, Zhejiang)

COURTYARD

West lake is an iconic, symbolic sight in Hangzhou and is regarded as one of the most beautiful sights in China. Its beauty is lakes, mountains, numerous temples, pagodas, gardens and natural/artificial islands within the lake. An elegant, peaceful scenario based on the power of water and hill landscaping is what the design try to pursue in this project. To achieve the ideal version of the architectural language, the designer makes a courtyard, where sunlight is allowed to pass through and rain to fall through, as the center of the building. The diagonal wall line serves to connect the frame of the building and the frame of the courtyard. Its west, east and south are buildings, only the north side is relatively open which is full of typical Jiangnan flavor. The architectural ideas takes both the atmosphere of traditional oriental yards and western modernism approaches into consideration.
