Dreamy Pillows
My first test with Vellum in Houdini and Rendered in Maya with Vray and Composited in Nuke.
Dreamy Pillows is an exercise to learn Vellum thanks to GraphicINmotion.
Below the Reference.
01. Modeling and UV
Thanks to the points along the lines the particles were scattered and using the SDF everything was made into a mesh to model the cushion, finally it was remeshed with the Quad Remesh.
Then the UVs and the stitching were created from which a mask was created that will be used for the simulation.
02. Vellum
Started with a Vellum Configure Balloon, the properties of Stretch (increases the surface of the fabric creating a puffy effect) and Pressure (force that pushes out) were modified. These two properties have a variable value guided by the previously created mask which decreases the influence of the forces on the Seams.
Before exporting the Alembic for Maya, a cleaning step was carried out to reduce the weight of the file.
03. Lighting and Shading
The Lighting was done in Maya using a Dome as a Fill light, 2 Rim lights and a Key light.
For the Shading a Quixel Fabric material was used, the Diffuse was multiplied with a pattern to maintain the details.
04. Compositing
In Nuke some changes have been made to make everything more Dreamy.
Thank you!
