The Bog-Hoggle
My debut project at Skyup Academy involved translating concept art into a 3D model, marking the start of my journey in learning ZBrush and Maya.
Hey everyone! I just finished my first project at Skyup Academy, where I learned how to sculpt and render in 3d. Honestly, before this class, I didn't even know how to use 3D software! So, I'm really proud of what I made.
Check out the awesome concept art by Justin Gerard below.
To start, I sketched a rough version of the concept art to understand the basic shapes.
Then, I looked at different pictures to help me figure out how to pose and shape the creature in 3D.
After that, I used a program called Z-Brush to create the basic form of the creature. You can see the steps in the sculpting process.
Next, I switched over to Maya and Vray to learn about lighting and taking good pictures of my model.
I thought it would look cool to use green and red colors to make the creature's big face stand out.
