OVERFLOW

This shot originally comes from the short film "Festin Noir", on which I had the opportunity to work a year ago. Since then, I have taken the liberty to rework the compositing to enhance the visual quality of the image and explore new artistic directions.

I tried to make the color scheme of the image as consistent as possible with the other shots in the project to enhance the sense of coherence and belonging to the same universe.

To conclude on the topic of color, I was inspired by the photographic work of Ash Thorp. It was my main color reference for this project, particularly for this distribution of tones with oranges for highlights, greens for midtones, and a subtle blue for shadows.

During the compositing phase, I noticed that the render had artefacts on certain frames. Since redoing the render wasn't a feasible option, I decided to use an image interpolation algorithm called "FILM" to replace the problematic images.

A frame with the artefact                             The same frame generated by FILM

The method I used for this result is detailed below.

FILM stands for "Frame Interpolation for Large Motion" and is by far one of the best tools I have been able to try for frame interpolation.

The informations about this alogrithm can be found there : https://film-net.github.io/

It can be used directly online : https://replicate.com/google-research/frame-interpolation
